veggiegirl comes to town!

Morning sunshines, today we begin yet another busy week! And it's almost July! Can you believe how quickly the summer is flying by? Anyway, while I'm busy in the office today I thought I'd leave you with a few photos from Friday's bloggie dinner at Candle 79. It was my first-time meeting any bloggers in person, let alone these favorites, so I was excited and nervous about making a good first impression :).

Unfortunately I worked a little later than expected and in my rush went to the Candle Café first. Then as I turned the corner to the correct location there was a slight monsoon in the city. So yeah, I was quite late and drenched when I finally made it. Thankfully these girls welcomed me right to the table and into conversation, I felt comfortable almost instantly, they're all absolutely fantastic.
After much deliberation I ordered the Moroccan Spiced Chickpea Cake, as many others did, served over seasonal vegetables with a red-pepper coconut curry, almonds, and topped with a apricot-date chutney. As you can see, it was beautifully presented, and I thought it tasted rather yummy, especially the chutney, even though I couldn't detect any moroccan spices. However, I was quite disappointed with the filling-factor... I left hungry! Maybe I should have ordered an appetizer? I have a big appetite :).
Nevertheless I had the company of these wonderful people to keep me entertained and distracted from my incomplete satisfaction with the meal: Sarah, Olga, Caroline, Katie, Deirdre and Amelia (who we realized live incredible close to me), Katherine, Diana, Marina, Heather (who I can't thank enough for planning it all) and the honorary guest, Liz. I really hope to get together with these local bloggers again!

And this one whenever she comes back to see us :). As you can tell, it was quite the big group so I didn't get to speak with everyone for as long or as deeply as I would have liked that means there has to be a next time! It's bizarre meeting people when you already know what they look like and a great deal about them but hanging out with such like-minded bloggers is simply amazing. Happy Monday!
