I never expected Northern Idaho to be so quaint nor so beautiful.
To be honest, I hadn't expected anything really since I'm so unfamiliar with the state.
But boy was I impressed with Coeur d'Alene.
It seemed like such a perfect place to raise a cute little family.
And apparently it is, as my bed and breakfast hosts told me.
I arrived later in the evening and dined on homemade lentil soup (from Seattle) and fresh-picked plums.
There was no internet. I chatted with other guests, crawled into bed after the sun had set, curled up with my book, and eventually drifted off to sleep.
It was glorious. I felt completely renewed the next morning.
To some degree, I don't doubt it was also the promises of whole grain oatmeal waffles, real maple syrup, and fresh berries that sprung me out of bed.
The delectable meal was followed with a tour of their organic garden. Because they have one.
My time in Coeur d'Alene was short and wonderfully sweet thanks to the generosity of Per and Ellen at Cedar Springs B&B. I am so, so glad I decided to stop there. By nine on that Wednesday morning, I had expressed my gratitude, said my goodbyes, and was on my way once again...
