only the beginning

While applying to colleges I kept three things in mind: One, I wanted to go to a big school-spirited school because I craved that excitement and camaraderie. Two, I wanted a school without Greek life because I did not want to be distracted by the "caddyness" that is a sorority. Three, convinced that my future would lie in communications, I wanted to go to a school with a reputable program. I applied to twelve, I was accepted by most, but in the end, it was between SU and Villanova. With Newhouse and the higher diversity ratings, the 'Cuse took the cake at a midnight in April. In August of 2006 I drove up to a school that I had only visited once and read about a million times to begin my college career, otherwise known as the best 4 years of my life. Below is a medley of that unbelievably wonderful experience with a focus on the first and last few memories...
Freshman year:
Sophomore year:
Junior year:
Senior year:
In two hours I will officially be a Newhouse graduate, and then tomorrow, following a Commencement ceremony and SU alum status, life will continue on. I cannot even  begin to conceive how much I have learned throughout my university career inside and outside of the classroom. I have evolved immensely and made the best friends of a lifetime along the way. Congratulations to the Syracuse University Class of 2010, and all others, everywhere! I am so proud of the great number of remarkable women and men who are going to do such great things out there in the real world and I am so excited for us all.

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are."  -E.E. Cummings

Now, with my ticket to change the world, I can only hope that my instincts lead me down the right path once again and towards many many more years of orange-hued happiness.
