breaking the fast

Whew, what a week! I spent most of my time in Syracuse for graduation and had the most amazing time. I think I forgot how much I truly missed my friends, you know? And, of course, being able to see my boyfriend whenever I like was a nice perk as well :). Despite the painful reverse-culture shock, being home doesn't suck so much after all... I've got to say, for as much of American food and eating habits that I disagree with, I think that we're one of the only cultures that has a wholehearted appreciation for breakfast. Go us! So what if there's a lot of unhealthy options... we do have the freedom of choice.
Last Sunday my boyfriend and I went to Sugar Pearl, a quaint and eclectic vegan-friendly espresso bar and café, for brunch. What a find!
I ordered the sweet pumpkin/zucchini pannycakes. Oh my gosh, they were so rich and filling and absolutely to die for. I only ate two,
but the boy helped me with one more, in addition to his triple-stuffed omelette! Thank God for him, huh? He has quite the appetite :).
By the way, his eggs were incredible! Cooked with zucchini, tomato, and goat cheese, and served alongside toast... they were a breakfast dream.
We also had cups of the most delicious fresh pressed coffee and enjoyed wonderfully pleasant service. What more could a girl want? Maybe an adorably cheesy smile from her boyfriend? Haha ;) I'll be back mañana and in the upcoming week with more highlights from the "crash course in my real life." I hope you're having a fantastic week so far!
