lovely tidbits

Hello my darlings! How are you doing on this blistering Thursday? Warm and cozy I hope. This has been a week of insanity for yours truly. I was behind on work and needed, desperately, to get ahead, then I discovered that my car no longer starts even though the battery is certainly not dead and... at least I have ARIZONA and family this weekend.
This morning I woke up to a great big ol' bowl of scrumptious oats. I don't know what I'd do without my filling and nourishing breakfasts; it is sometimes the only thing that drags my poor sleep-deprived self out of bed. Actually, that's a lie, I'm one of those obnoxious morning people. What about you? Early bird? Night owl?
I ate breakfast today in the Formal Sitting Room for a change of scenery for both you and me. It's still beautifully decorated from recruitment so I could just feel the sisterly love ;). While enjoying the spread, I simultaneously read una novela for Spanish class, and then I ran out the door, not to yoga, but to get a vacation-pedi before class. What a treat, I haven't had once since the summer!
On my way back from my ever-mind-stimulating Magazine Writing class I passed this poster. It reads, "This is a picture from an article called "The Rescuing Hug". The article details the first week of a set of twins. Apparently, each were in their respective incubators, and one was not expected to live. A hospital nurse fought against the hospital rules and placed the babies in one incubator. When they were placed together,  the healthier of the two threw an arm over her sister in an endearing embrace. The smaller baby's heart rate stabilized and her temperature rose to normal. Let us not forget to embrace those whom we love."
What an amazingly touching story. After having my senior photo re-taken I skipped home to have lunch with Laura. On the plate: salad with a vegan quesadilla and salsa. I was glad to not have to work through my mid-day meal again and instead use my books as a photo background :).
Afterwards though it was right back to my college education. I spent the next hour and twenty minutes reviewing the last few chapters of Bendícime Última and then casually mentioned that I was visiting Arizona State (for the bro) this weekend to my professor. She flipped! She's an alum and I now think I may just have to buy more than a few souvenirs.
I had some French homework to finish up after Spanish class (trying to be trilingual; woot, woot) so I went to Marshall Square Mall for a while to that. Unfortunately Fortunately, I soon felt a bit parched and hungry and saw no better time to try Syra-Juice... for the first time. Their menu is fabulous with various delicious omni, vegetarian, and vegan options.
Oh green juice, it has been too long! I had a medium with celery, spinach, cuke, and cilantro. Next time I'm thinking the V5 (carrot, tomato, celery, cuke, cilantro) or maybe, the hangover killer (carrot, apple, ginger, ginseng, banana). For now, my selection accomplished what I'd hoped for and I was suddenly pumped up again, ready to continue my day.
I know this is a random,, but I just wanted to share some new awesomeness with you, The Kind Diet. I got it about two weeks ago with one of my textbooks (in order to make sure I got Amazon free shipping, ha) and I'm absolutely loving it. 'Tis easy to ready, informative and conversational (unlike the snarky that is Skinny Bitch), with beautiful (food photography adoration) recipes.
Now I'm finishing up dinner, a fantastic plate of almond-vegetable couscous and broccoli with a side salad. Pretty soon, I should start (and finish) packing. And once nine o'clock hits, I will start getting ready for Thirsty Thursday :) with wine and primping. Don't worry though kids, I'll be good. I have a big, no huge, weekend ahead of me!
Which leads me to my final tidbit: HAVE A VERY HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! Any day should be a day to celebrate l'amour of all kinds but I hope that you find especially warm and fuzzy loads of love on February 14th, whether that means you're with a special someone, surrounded by a few best friends, or spending the day avec the family, like me. Oh. and if you see him, tell the boy that I miss him dearly and can't wait to celebrate V-Day part II with him as soon as humanly possible. Please and thank you :). Also, just as an fyi, the valentine above is from our new biddies, and has many more words than I displayed, love them. Okay, take care sweethearts, see you Monday!

  4. I'm definitely a morning person too, even when sleep deprived :)

I so admire your aspiration to be trilingual! Getting my minor in French is taking a lot, I cannot imagin taking on another language.

Hope you had fun last night, and a safe trip home this weekend. And Happy Valentine's day to you too!
