interrupción

Uploading photos of the rainforest is sure taking a lot longer than expected! To hold you over, an interruption from the scheduled Costa Rican material...

I am a young woman of many passions. I read about 50 blogs per day on topics ranging from travel to design, from health to photography, from art to food… and it is for all of these reasons that I was especially touched by a recent Louis Vuitton campaign. Sure, I’ve never studied advertising, but after graduating from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at SU, I’ve seemed to acquire a critical eye for it. As for any special interest in Louis Vuitton or other big name luxury brands, I assure you that I have none, except for maybe Chloé. Nonetheless, as I sat in front of my computer, (trying to watch hulu,) I was enchanted by their spectacular cinematography, models, and most of all, message. I hope it means as much to you as it does to me:

What is a journey?

A journey is not a trip. It is not a vacation. It is a process, a discovery, a process of self-discovery. A journey brings us face to face with ourselves. A journey not only shows us this world, but how we fit in it. Does the journey create the person or does the person create the journey? The journey is life itself. Where will life take you?

As a “citizen of the world” with a life aspiration to travel often, these statements ring true for me on a superficial level. But digging deeper, they also pose bewildering responses. The real journey is life itself; what a beautiful, beautiful concept. If you’d like to share, how would you answer the questions above?

  1. That was a beautiful ad, though I still dislike the LV logo (or anything w/ large repetitive logos for that matter).
