mixology in manhattan

One year ago today, I moved into a New York City apartment. It has since become my home and I am so grateful to have two wonderful roommates to share it with.
They've truly made acclimating to city living easier, and a heck of a lot more fun. I knew Catherine would--she's a friend from college (we were in the same sorority)--but I couldn't have been sure about Dave. Luckily, he's awesome. In addition to balancing out the hormones and offering good advice, he's also a pretty crafty mixologist. Within my first few days as their new roommate, I came home to a beautiful cocktail inspired by the then most recent issue of GQ...

Indian Lime Soda
1 lime
1 tbsp cumin
2 tbsp celery salt
1.5 oz. gin
0.5 oz. simple syrup
seltzer

All you have to do is rim the glass with celery salt and cumin, fill it with ice, and then add the gin, lime juice, simple syrup, and seltzer. And even if you don't plan on enjoying one tonight out of pure nostalgia (like me), you should try to sometime soon. I have a feeling it's going to be just as refreshing this May. In other news, I cannot wait to share this past weekend with you! Syracuse was, as usual, a blast.

  1. I love GQ! it always has such great ideas and much better cocktail recipes than Glamour or Cosmo. a drink doesn't have to be pink for it to be good!

  2. @lookthroughmyspecs: It really is a great magazine. And I agree about the pink! I actually gravitate away from cocktails that sound to sweet and frilly :).
